Yoga Muscles Series: Bicep Femoris

The first muscle in the yoga muscle series is the Bicep Femoris. Commonly called the quads. As you can see it’s a massive muscle.

The action of the bicep femoris includes flexion on the knee and extends the hip.

This muscles is intricate in executing the downward facing dog pose.

I’ve enjoyed practicing yoga for over 15yrs and during that time my fascination with how it influences our body has grown.

Using The Key Muscles of Yoga book, this begins the yoga muscle series. During this month series, I will select popular yoga poses and discuss the muscles used executing that pose.
