Think Positive for Good Health

During my 5mile run yesterday, I had a great conversation about how a positive outlook influences great health. Looking on the bright side isn’t just a phrase, according to Hilary Tindle author of “Up: How Positive Outlook Can Transform Our Health and Aging.” Tidle cites research and patient case studies as evidence.

In her book she mentions a few tips.
> Know The Simple Seven: American Heart Association has named 7 healthy steps that will help prevent cardiovascular disease, the top killer of most Americans. They are exercise regularly, eat well, maintain healthy weight, and keep the blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels at normal range.
> Positive Self Talk: Changing any self negative talk takes courage. The behind-the-scenes changes can help fuel and maintain healthy behavior.

While running, I shared how when I turned the big 4-0 earlier this year some women ‘warned’ me of how this means things will go down hill from here. Just by entering one of the most exciting decades of my life? What? That’s crazy talk. Especially since I’m in the best shape of my life. When that was uttered my thoughts were ‘Really? Well, I’m not subscribing to that state of mind.’ My 40’s and beyond will absolutely be the best. Now, that I will subscribe to with a positive mind.
