Travel With Easy

Posted on August 9th, 2013 by Shari´ Parks

Long rides can take a toll on the body. Whether it’s by car, plane or train. This week’s blog will give you easy to follow tidbits to incorporate gentle movement in your seat. It all begins before you find yourself confined to that seat.

Before you Leave:
Give yourself up to 15mins of stretches. You want to be sure these include spine twists.

While Seated:
To support your lower back place one or two pillows behind your lower back at the sacrum. You can also use a tennis ball or something similar to roll against your back will sitting.

Upon Arriving:
To restore circulation, lie on the floor with your legs bent at the knees resting on a chair. Or on a bed with your legs up the wall.

Also, at your destination try to incorporate your regularly planned fitness activities. During a recent vacation in San Francisco I made sure to continue my yoga practice. Sometimes it was a short sequence of poses before starting the day. The gem find was Integral Yoga Institute less than 3blocks from the vacation apartment. Sweet.
