Welcome June and summertime

Welcome June… the beginning of Summer when many people begin to vacation. Sure some of us vacation whenever we desire, but the kids are out of school and it’s time to hit the open road. Or is it? Have you considered a staycation? A way to unwind within as near as your backyard or around the corner from your home.

One activity that you and your sweetie can participate in together is a couple’s massage session. You don’t even need to have a sweetie for this relaxing service; bring along a parent or a best buddy. At Aaduri Healing Arts Center we have a treatment room that has the space for you both to enjoy a massage session side by side.

A slice of relaxation is just a car ride away.

Routine Maintenance

That’s fingernails are considered routine maintenance. As a therapist the nail length must be kept short at all times. I keep the nails short to assure I do not injure my client with an inadvertent scratch and to avoid any cross contamination from any dead skin cells underneath the nail. You won’t catch polish on my nails when performing bodywork, not even clear. Because again, skin cells and other unknown microorganisms can get stuck underneath a long nail, or the chipped polish and you just won’t notice any of that with a polished nail. Plus all that is just gross.

Sure, I got the funny look from Tony, my manicurist, when I first started going to him. What color would you like? No color please, but do buff them to give them that natural shine. At this point in my career I don’t even call my nails, well nails. I affectionally call them stubs. Even still, they need routine maintenance.

Massage for Arthritis

Arthritis is an insidious disease, eating its way into the joints of nearly 70 million Americans, or nearly one out of every three U.S. adults. It’s inflammation of the joints, stiffness, and pain are the most common symptoms of arthritis. And it’s more than just one disease — there are at least 100 variations of arthritis claiming new sufferers every day. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and even fibromyalgia are just a few of the arthritis heavy hitters.

Many of my clients have some form of arthritis and receive regular bodywork for pain relief. One approach I take during a session is gentle and calming strokes. The last thing someone in pain needs is rough manipulation of an already sensitive area. Homework that I provide usually involves stretching; depending on the area affected.

There are a few home activities one can do to help reduce arthritis pain. Yoga is a wonderful option to keeping the body moving. It also offers mental relaxation and breath focus. Water walking is another simple exercise that offers multiple benefits.

Happy one year anniversary

This month is a milestone for Finger Touch Massage. It marks the one year that the move was made to Aaduri Healing Arts Center. Prior to that I was practicing out of my home.
The move has proven successful in so many ways. Naturally, business has grown. I’m able to provide a variety of services based on clients needs. I also share space, ideas and comradery with other wellness practitioners. This group of dynamic women bodyworkers are professional, talented and a joy to work around. We may not always see one another because of our differing schedules, but the energy and vibe is nothing but positive.

A huge thank you to Kim, owner of Aaduri Healing Arts. I’m soo glad I made that cold call!
