Medical Massage

Posted on April 26th, 2013 by Shari´ Parks

I’m super excited. Today I will begin to learn the steps to bill insurance for medical massage needs. This three part seminar taught by LMT Success Group will go over the procedure providers need to successfully assist their clients in billing their insurance provider. This comes at a crucial time as more and more of my clients are requesting ways to bill their insurance provider.

Over the years many health insurance plans cover physician prescribed massage, which means I will be able to extend my service to help more people. This will be a win/win. To be continued….

Body Awareness: Sitting

Posted on April 19th, 2013 by Shari´ Parks

This week’s blog comes from ABMP’s Massage and Bodywork magazine July/August 2011 edition. Although the article is geared toward Massage Therapist and other bodyworker’s, it really applies to everyone.

Sitting, like standing, is a basic functional posture. These are some basic principles to keep in mind when sitting:

* Aligning the ankles underneath the knees increases balance, comfort and stability
* Balancing the head over the spine promotes neutral alignment and reduces restricted breathing

Sitting with your pelvis, legs and feet aligned may be a new way for you to sit, and it may even feel strange or tiring at first. Take your time to become comfortable with this new way. If you begin to feel tired, relax into the familiar sitting position, coming back to the new posture when ready.

Happy sitting.

Referrals are welcomed!

Have you ever felt so wonderful after your massage session that you’ve wanted to shout it off the top of a  rooftop? I say go for it.

Your Massage Therapist would also love for you to share your good experience. That’s precisely how we grow our business, by referrals. Did you know that I have a referral program? For every three referrals you give, you receive $20 off your regularly priced service. That’s one way I show my appreciation for you telling others about by my services.

So next time you have the urge to share please do!

My Wellness Team

Posted on April 5th, 2013 by Shari´ Parks

I bet you are wondering what I do to assure I’m living an optimally healthy life? It’s ironic because I just had this same conversation with my spouse. During that conversation I was reminded that I pull out all the stops to take care of me.

So, to start out introducing you to my wellness team let’s start with what I eat. On April 1 I decided to reboot my system and started a juice fast, what I like to call Juice Feast. I juice on a regular basis, so I decided to add raw foods in my 10day challenge. When I’m not cleansing I live a vegan lifestyle.

Say hello to my Colon Therapist. Today, I have an appointment to assure my colon is clear and ready to receive all the dense nutrients I’m taking in. Just like you have air ducts in your home cleaned out, we must do the same to our vital organs and the colon is one of them.

Say hello to my Acupuncturist. I have bi-monthly sessions and can’t see life without having my chi balanced. I leave my sessions feeling less “flighty” and more grounded, centered and with inner peace that is absolutely divine.

Say hello to my gym. Okay, I’m a bit of a work out nut when it comes to weight training and core conditioning. Beside these two work out regimen’s I’m also a long distance runner. Not fast at all, but enjoy the challenge of competing in marathons and what girl doesn’t like a little bling hanging on the wall i.e. the finishers medal.

Say hello to my yoga. I practice yoga at least twick a week at two different studios; one regular and the other Bikram yoga. Both help keep me mentally clear and focused along with physically flexible.

Say hello to my meditation. I have meditated on and off over the years. I recently completed a 21day meditation journey using Deepak Chopra’s Meditation Center. Meditating daily for 21 days really opened up my channels of consciousness.

Say hello to my Massage Therapist. Last but not least, I have a team of wonderful colleagues that provide massage therapy to me on a weekly basis. Each has their own specialty that assures I can continue to provide service to my clients.

So, there you have it. My wellness team. Of course I have a primary physician that I see annually for preventive care. If you are interested in learning more about any of my practitioners, do let me know.
