Reduce Stress Before Your Massage Session

Posted on March 15th, 2013 by Shari´ Parks

To center myself before each client session I take several deep inhalations. This helps me prepare my mind and body to provide the best experience to each of my clients. While some come to their session centered and grounded many come frazzled from the stresses of the day. This week’s blog I’m offering ways you can help your mind prepare for your massage session. It all begins with the power of breath. If you’ve been on my table, you know that I start each session requesting you take a deep breath in and slowly exhaling. There’s a reason I do this. This helps clear the mind by bringing awareness to the body.

I invite you to try deep breathing prior to your arrival to your next massage session. It can be as simple as two or three deep slow breaths in through the mouth and out through the mouth or nose, whichever is your preference. Then ask yourself how are you feeling? More peaceful? Grounded? Balanced? By preparing your mind and body this will help push the stress out of your body making our time together much more effective and healing.
